What do you learn during the apprenticeship for a machine and plant operator?

Machine and plant operators learn how to operate highly complex production plants; they monitor and control the process sequences. Other activities include maintenance work, replacing wearing parts and troubleshooting.

To start this training, you need a very good lower secondary school degree. The apprenticeship period for a machine and plant operator is usually two years. Most of the training takes place within the company, some training courses are external. The vocational school is attended two days a week in the first year of training and on one day in the second year. The remaining apprenticeship period takes place in the company to learn the practical procedures.
